29 Faces Challenge - Faces #12 and #13

I have been looking at painted or drawn faces with realistic noses.  Besides being the ugliest part of the human face (IMO), I find it the hardest part to draw or paint. It mostly depends on the artist's skill with applying shadows and highlights.

On my latest attempt at a three-quarter female face, I made an effort to make a realistic nose. I still need a lot of practice, but I definitely think it is an improvement over Face #11.

Another male, this time with a less aggressive chin:

Enjoy your weekend.

  1. Looking back on your faces...the noses look good for the style of faces you create!! As for the guy with the big chin there are so many out there that look like that! Of course the couple this week are very attractive!! Good job!! Love them both!

  2. Realistic drawing is something I can't manage, or maybe it's not my style since I'm quite lazy to practice.

I like that male, he's good looking!

    1. My favorite artist is Mary Cassatt. She worked and studied from her childhood until she reached middle age before she began to paint in what we consider her "style". I know this old lady is not going to live long enough to get anywhere near her skill, but I can dream. We both can dream about the handsome male. I couldn't believe he came out so well. I really haven't practiced the males like I have the females. Thanks for taking the time to comment. It is appreciated.

  3. Hello Neena and thank You very much for Your kind comment in my blog.
I like very much about Your line of Your drawings. It is very great You have drawn both male and female and different looking, too. Number 7 has very funny but different and great looking. I like all Your drawings, go on, it has some to make before the month is over.
    Greetings from Finland,

    1. It is a shame he doesn't really exist. See the comment below.

  5. Several people have commented on the nice-looking male I drew. An art teacher once pointed out, with photo examples, that the men we usually label "handsome" are the ones who have more feminine features.

When I was looking for photos to help me with my sketch, I was looking for a more rounded chin. But once I looked at him more closely, I saw he also had rounded eyes and a thinner nose, features we usually associate with females.

I wasn't trying for an exact replica of his face, but I did borrow some individual features for the sketch I drew. Help with the hair, ears, and clothing came from other photos.
